The Capitol Pressroom for March 29, 2012
Senate Majority Leader Dean Skelos on the budget agreement & his priorities for the rest of session.
Tim Kremer of the NYS School Boards Association checks in.
Senator Pat Gallivan of western NY discusses both school aid and his bill on the Scaffold Law.
Governor Andrew Cuomo took a moment to applaud the 22 million dollar Adirondack Club & Resort deal in the Town of Tupper Lake during a conference call on Wednesday touting a deal between Bombardier and the MTA. But not everyone is a fan of the deal. Today we will be joined by attorney Bob Glennon of Protect the Adirondacks & Charlie Morrison of the Sierra Club – they are suing the Adirondack Park Agency (which they say has “become a rogue agency”), the DEC and the developer of the Adirondack Club and Resort.

Bob said he was going to wage “war” on Adirondackers and now he’s taking on the entire state. Sad and pitiful. Protect had 8 long years to make a solid environmental case against the ACR and failed miserably. Where was the Sierra Club in all that time? They couldn’t identify one threatened species and even stated it was state land. It’s private land folks, and a miniscule amount of the entire land will be developed. Bob wants a war? Show him the door!

Just one snail darter Bob, one. Give REAL environmentalists something to hang our hats on. And your buddy Bob Harrison’s seasonal private island retreat near Tupper Lake does not count!

The Capitol Press room should do a little further investigation of the ACR principle investors, Michael D Foxman and Thomac C Lawson. Foxman was President of the failed Sunrise Savings and Loan (in FL) that went belly up in the mid 80′s costing the US taxpayers over 680 MIllion dollars to bail out, at the time it was the largest S & L failure in the country. Just google Mr Foxman to get the detail. Foxman has also been delinquent on the few properties in Tupper Lake associated with the ACR and still is. His partner, Lawson currently has 3 federal tax liens against him for not paying federal income taxes for 07,08 and 09 tax yrs. The three liens total just shy of $540000. Just check the Broward County website in FL to get the details. This would make a good follow up story. None of the local press in the Adirondacks have dealt with these pertinent facts.
