C. Collodi's Pinocchio

Carlo Lorenzini died in 1890 in Florence, the city where he was born, never knowing that fifty years later, Walt Disney would produce the film immortalizing the character of Pinocchio that he created under the pen name Collodi.  Tune into CIAO! for this story and great Italian and Italian American music with Joey Nigro & Jim Battaglia! (Check back on this page for audio on the creator of Pinocchio and Jim Battaglia on making wine the traditional way).

Italians love to say, “Canta che ti passa!” which means “sing that it will pass!”  Yes, music does inspire and heal!  You’ll know you’re among friends as co-hosts Joey Nigro & Jim Battaglia, showcase the great music of the Italian American & Italian songbooks and the fun and traditions of the Italian American heritage.

Topics you will hear in future CIAO! programs range from the culture, beauty and history of Italy and the regions where Italian American families claim their roots; stories of immigration and assimilation, sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes humorous…but always heartwarming; memories of the old neighborhoods; entertaining pieces on noteworthy Italians Americans and interviews with celebrities or ordinary Italian Americans with a story to tell.
