Power in Albany

On the next edition of The Capitol Pressroom we will examine two different kinds of power.

First, the kind that we’re supposed to conserve.

The Paterson Administration has had some success in this area, from the delivery on a promise to build a battery storage facility in upstate New York, to improving energy efficiency and at the same time putting people back to work.

Energy issues on the Governor’s agenda right now?

– Enacting legislation to require and promote energy efficiency via energy code improvements

– New standards for appliances

– Energy disclosure at the time of sale of a property

We will talk with the administration’s energy maven Tom Congdon about what he calls, “our plans to incentivize the development of renewable energy”.

After examining the kind of power that runs the lights, we will take a little time to examine a much older kind of power: The kind that runs governments. Lobbyist Steve Weingarten of Weingarten, Reid and McNally returns to give us an inside look at the flurry of fundraisers legislators have been holding in Albany and elsewhere over the last few weeks.
