Bill Monroe Centennial coming up next week!
Hello, everyone! This is a reminder for all “Bluegrass Ramble” fans that the centennial of the Father Of Bluegrass Music, Bill Monroe, will be next Tuesday, Sept. 13th.
The International Bluegrass Music Museum in Owensboro, Kentucky–a few miles north of Bill’s birthplace in Rosine–will host three days of exhibits, discussions and concerts Monday thru Wednesday, Sep. 12th thru 14th. Featured will be many active members of the Bluegrass Hall Of Fame including Earl Scruggs (who brought the three-finger Scruggs style sound to Bill Monroe’s Blue Grass Boys), Dr. Ralph Stanley, Bill Clifton, Jesse McReynolds, Eddie Adcock and many others.
Exhibits and media presentations on Bill Monroe’s life will also be featured.
The International Bluegrass Museum has more information here.
Owensboro is a two hour drive north of Nashville or west of Louisville.
I am attending and can’t wait!
