6/22/12 SHOW: PRESIDENTIAL POWER, IMMIGRATION, AND EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE; QUOTAS AND THE POLICE
On this week’s show the panelists examine two decisions taken by President Obama in the past week that exercise presidential authority. One halted the deportation of young illegal aliens, and one claimed executive privilege to keep secret documents concerning the Fast and Furious gun running scheme. Were these decisions legal, warranted, political, or wise? Then the panelists react to a column in The New York Times by a former police captain charging that police in New York City are harassing citizens with searches, tickets, and violations–all to make a quota forced on them by superiors. Does this ring true, and how dangerous for society is it? Join in the conversation by posting a comment on what you heard.
