12/30/11 SHOW: THE MOST MEMORABLE MOMENT OF 2011; WHAT WE LEARNED IN 2011; WHAT THE HOT SPOTS FOR 2012 WILL BE

On this week’s year-end show we discuss some of the most memorable moments in 2011, from the killing of Osama bin Laden to the collapse of the Syracuse Symphony.  Then, as faculty members who are presumably learning new information all the time, we discuss the subjects we studied in the past year that were new to us and how we made use of what we learned.  Finally, we predict what the hot spots for news will be in 2012.  Join in the conversation by posting a comment on what you heard.

    Happy New Year to ALL:

Enjoyed the year end show and would like to add to the hot spots for 2012. I think the national election in the USA is going to be a hot spot. We know that President Obama will run for re-election, but who will be nominated by the Republicans? Will the President be re-elected and have a chance to continue his programs as well as foreign policy? Or will some Republican be elected who may return to the Bush administration policies that led us into two wars and a major recession?
Will we protect Medicare and Social Security and revise them or continue to protect the wealthy and downgrade Medicare and Social Security as Eric Cantor and many other would like to do? That seems to be a very big hot spot to me.
